Accounting Specialist

This is primarily an in-office position based in Santa Barbara, California. Hybrid schedule may be considered after training.
 

A/P & Vendor Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable (AP) transactions and vendor setup
  • 3-way match of packing slips, invoices, and purchase orders
  • Coordinate invoice approvals in accordance with company procedures
  • Support purchasing by completing vendor credit applications
  • Interact with vendors and resolve discrepancies/issues
  • Request/review vendor Form W-9s
  • Assist with monthly sales and use tax reporting
  • Assist in year-end Form 1099 processing
 

Payroll & HR Responsibilities:

  • Process biweekly payroll in coordination with the company’s external payroll provider
  • Provide administrative HR support including onboarding documentation, employee records maintenance, and coordination with benefits/payroll providers
 

General Accounting Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Enter transactions for company credit cards
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures
  • Provide occasional support for customer billing and invoicing
  • Prepare reports and maintain spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
  • Support employee expense reimbursements
  • Support external audits and financial reviews
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
  • Provide ad hoc reporting, financial analysis, and other accounting projects
  • Reports to the Controller
 

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online and integrated inventory/manufacturing systems preferred
  • Strong understanding of AP/AR processes and general accounting principles
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • High attention to detail, excellent communication, and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with a MRP system a plus
  • US work authorization (required)

Hours/Pay

Full time position, flexible scheduling available. Hourly pay, rate commensurate with experience.
