Steam disinfection releases micro(nano)plastics from silicone-rubber baby teats as examined by optical photothermal infrared microspectroscopy

We successfully used O-PTIR microspectroscopy to identify small microplastics down to 600 nm to demonstrate the formation of cyclic and branched polysiloxane- or polyimide-containing MNPs during the steam disinfection of silicone teats.
